Plenty of users of fertilizer, including the household consumers and agricultural producers, posted this question on what if switching from traditional chemical to bio-organic fertilizers, will the switch kill or affect the growths of the crops ?
Bio-Organic fertilizers are typically gradual release whereas the chemical fertilizer is strong and instant. Actually from some studies, the organic fertilizer is much safer and better off for the plants than the chemical fertilizers.
Will the powerful and with immediate effect features of chemical fertilizer good for the consumers or crops ? If the plants are not consumable by people or livestock, such as flowers and non-fruiting trees, the chemical fertilizer application on crops should be okay. However, if the plants are eatable, whatever chemical ingredients that absorbed by the plants, will finally transfer into the body of human being. Does anyone of you want to eat chemical fertilizer indirectly everyday ?
Frankly speaking, the chemical fertilizer does not have significant effects on plants because the plants themselves are brainless to choose, that is, whatever we give to the crops, they will absorb it perfectly. However the chemical fertilizer will have grand effects on the soil and environment in long term. Please note below to enlighten further.
Both the chemical and bio-organic fertilizers will not kill plants except in situation that the users or farmers overdose the fertilizer on crops. The plants are just like our human body, if we overdose ourselves with excessive supplement and vitamin, which beyond our body needs, can cause us falling illnesses or with severe diseases.
If we rephrase the question : Changing From Organic To Chemical Fertilizer : Will Kill Crops ? The answer is no, but the crops will get faded or contract in size after a period of time for continuation of chemical fertilizers application. Why? The utilization of chemical fertilizers will slowly destruct the good elements of soil.
What are the consequences of deterioration of soil quality ? After a period of time of chemical application, the soil particles will become compact and unable to hold nutrients and moisture (basically the water retention). Sooner and later, the soil will become harder and harder and the absorption of water by the roots of plants will be very restricted.
Water is the important substance of any crop. Thus, with restricted absorption of water by the root radicle of plants will finally fade or limit the growths of the crops.
However for the organic fertilizers, not all the bio-organic fertilizers have positive effects on crops and soil. I find a lot of user and farmer ever tried some non-effective bio-organic fertilizer and this inevitably resulted them a remark that the bio-organic fertilizer has no difference with the chemical fertilizer. This is incorrect ! I can only justify that the selection of a right organic fertilizer by the users is utmost critical.
A good bio-organic fertilizer should improve the soil quality and will never result hardness of the soil. This eventually will help the absorption of water by the root radicle of plants. A great bio-organic fertilizer supposedly should be a contribution to enhancement of crop nutrition, increment of soil fertility resulting in greater yield levels as well as stronger resistance to diseases. Additionally, a wonderful bio organic fertilizer should effectively improve the returns of agricultural producers whilst the production and soil maintenance cost should corresponding drop.
Finally, rich nutrients in bio organic fertilizer should nourish the soil, tackle soil compaction and erosion, and enable uninterrupted and healthy plant growths.
Note that after treatment with such suitable bio organic fertilizers, the soil with plenty of organic matter (OM) will remain loose, allow root to focus the soil comfortably to absorb nutrition and provide a constant stream of nutrients to the stems and leaves.
